tags are essential because of the simplicity that they give people who really don't have alot of time to go into depth and just want to use one word that could relate to many things. In my previous blog when i was searching flickr for pictures i put in gerald butler and i got johnny depp, jude law etc etc.
i think that it is a key piece of software that should be used in the libraries because many times customers come in and want the newest releases or books by a certain author , or they don't know the author but they know this that and the third so it could make life easier for our patrons. whats also cool with flickr is that you can tag one picture with up to 75 keywords. that means you can pick and choose whatever you want to search for and hopefully you will get to what you are looking for or with the help of the tags might help you find something else...
